Separation Silence Speaks Volumes: 72 Alberta Politicians Refuse to Reject Separation

CanadaWill Project calls on Albertans to demand answers from politicians who stay silent on Alberta’s future in Canada

Calgary, October 23, 2025 — The CanadaWill Project has identified 72 of Alberta’s 121 federal and provincial politicians who have refused to clearly state whether they support or oppose Alberta separation. Each politician was contacted four times between October 2 and October 20 and asked a single, direct question:

“Do you reject Alberta separatism? Yes or No.”

Despite multiple outreach attempts, these officials have not clarified their position.

“Silence from elected leaders is not neutrality—it’s complicity,” said Tim Glowa, Co-founder of CanadaWill.ca. “We scraped and reviewed two years of public statements and news coverage, then reached out four times to every MLA and Alberta-based MP. Those who ignored our requests are now classified as ‘Pro Separation / No stance’ in our database. Albertans deserve clarity from their elected representatives.”

Glowa added that Alberta’s economic strength depends on unity: “Separation would isolate Alberta, hurt our economy, drive out investment, and make our province poorer. Alberta is stronger within Canada—and Canada is stronger with Alberta.”

He added: “Many Alberta politicians appear torn between the majority of their constituents and a small but vocal extremist fringe. The vast majority of Albertans are proudly Canadian - but some politicians fear losing their nominations if they oppose the separatist minority. That’s not leadership - that’s political self-preservation”.

Ken Chapman, Founder of the Citizenship Engagement Group, Reboot Alberta said, “If your MLA or MP is on the CanadaWill list, contact them. Demand a Pro-Canada answer. Ask if they’ve signed the Forever Canadian petition. These politicians work for citizens, not for separatists. And if you want to make your voice heard quickly, use ResistNow.ca—a fast, free, effective way to message your elected representatives directly. Text RESISTNOW to 825 425 2491. We look up and then deliver your message directly to your elected representatives.”

Albertans can find out where their elected representatives stand on Alberta separation by searching the database at app.CanadaWill.ca

A full list of Alberta federal and provincial politicians who remain classified as ‘Pro Separation / No stance’ is attached to this release.

About CanadaWill.ca

CanadaWill.ca is a non-partisan transparency initiative that tracks where Alberta’s elected officials stand on key issues - beginning with Alberta separatism. The project analyzes public statements, media coverage, and direct outreach to classify every MLA and Alberta-based MP as either Pro Canada or Pro Separation / No stance. Citizens can enter their address at app.CanadaWill.ca and look up to see if their representative rejects Alberta separation.

About ResistNow.ca

ResistNow.ca - the sister platform to CanadaWill - is a free, non-partisan tool that makes civic engagement frictionless, and allows citizens to be heard on this or any issue. Canadians can simply text RESISTNOW to825-425-2491 to send a message to their MPs, MLAs, Premiers, or Mayors. No portals, no forms, no hunting for emails. Just fast, free, frictionless democracy.

Check where your elected officials stand at app.CanadaWill.ca, then tell them Alberta is better in Canada, and Canada is better with Alberta.

The following list includes 72 Alberta MLAs and MPs who have been classified as “Pro Separation / No stance.”

These officials did not respond to four separate email requests between October 2 and October 20 asking whether they reject Alberta separatism, and we were unable to detect their stance through a review of news and public statements going back 24 months. Their silence speaks for itself—Albertans deserve clear, public answers from every elected official on whether they stand for a united Canada or not.
